Theory Group, Microsoft Research

There is a novel approach to building a quantum computer in which you first construct something even more interesting: a small two dimensional world in which the effective interactions are topological. I will describe what these worlds are like, what steps have been taken toward their construction and finally how they would effect quantum computation.
