The Centenary Celebration:
100 Years of Einstein's Revolutionary Theory of Gravity

In November 1915, Einstein produced his most remarkable piece of work, called the "General Theory of Relativity". This theory has, in the last 99 years, revolutionized how we think about space and time, about the universe, and about our place in it. Hardly anyone has remained untouched by the ideas in this theory - it has completely reshaped public discourse about science and the world we live in.

To celebrate this upcoming centenary, PITP will be organizing several special public events. Some will be accessible to a wide audience, from high school students upwards; others will be a little more esoteric. The "PITP/St-John" public lecture series continues every month as usual, but quite a few of the talks in the next year will focus on one or other aspect of astronomy, cosmology, space and time, and quantum theory, as well as more general topics connected to Einstein's life.

As these events come up they will be announced here on the PITP webpage. If you want to find out more about Einstein and his ideas, one way is via the different page links given above. We begin on Oct 22, 2014, with the "Bill and Bob" evening, which should be accessible to high school students and anyone from the general public with an interest in science.
